Your First Night at the Tavern

You arrive

Nobody quizzes you at the door

You find the table, you find a seat. Some of the party will be friends you brought; some will be strangers for about nine more minutes. Snacks appear. Nothing is expected of you yet.

First fifteen minutes

You're handed a hero

No maths, no rulebook, no homework. We bring ready-made characters: a stubborn dwarf, a too-clever rogue, a wizard with poor impulse control, and you pick the one that makes you grin. Your Dungeon Master explains the only rule that matters: say what your character does, then roll.

The world opens

The map hits the table

Your DM sets the scene: a village with a problem, a rumour worth chasing, a door that should not be open. This is where the room goes quiet for the first time.

Roll for initiative

Your first roll

Someone tries something reckless, it's usually not you, the first time. The die clatters. Everyone leans in. Within twenty minutes you'll be arguing tactics with people whose names you learned an hour ago.

The turn

The moment the story becomes yours

Every session has one: the plan that shouldn't work and does, the natural 20 at the exact right second, the quiet character who says the perfect thing. This is the part people retell for years.

Last call

Nobody wants to leave

A first session usually runs three to four hours, your Dungeon Master will confirm when you book. It ends with the party still talking over each other about what they'd do next. Many of them come back to find out.

What to bring

Nothing. Truly: dice, characters, maps and rules are all on the house. Bring yourself, and snacks if you're feeling generous.

The Hearth

An ambience conjurer for game nights at home. Light a lantern to summon a sound; mix them to taste. The tavern follows wherever your party gathers.

The fire, the bard and the rain are conjured live by your browser as they play; the common room is a real crowd of merrymakers, caught forever mid-toast.

Where We Gather

Our public beginner tables gather at partner venues around Makati, most recently at Craft MNL, with each session announced on our Facebook page.

Booking a private quest? The tavern comes to you: homes, offices, cafés: anywhere with room for a table of heroes and one very dramatic Dungeon Master.

Seats at public tables are few and claimed quickly: follow the page, and when the horn sounds, answer.
